How to Start a Club
Rockin’ English is a free program using rock and roll songs to teach or improve English language skills. It is designed for teens, but works for all ages. Starting a club is as simple as downloading some of our curriculum, choosing a location, and gathering together to have some fun!
The logic behind Rockin’ English is simple: Everybody loves music. Young people like rock and roll. Teens around the world are curious about classic rock and roll songs. Rockin’ English builds upon this natural curiosity to encourage participants to practice their English skills and learn new ones, all in a fun, non-threatening club atmosphere.
Rockin’ English is a supplementary English language program, not a full fledged course. Each lesson is a stand alone unit. Teachers can use individual modules to supplement their formal lesson plans, to expand student vocabulary, or for conversational drill.
To start a Rockin’ English club, please visit our resources page and download whatever you think you need or want. Each song unit has a theme that is described in parentheses next to the song name. Rockin’ English curriculum materials are designed and produced by volunteers who love teens and want to help them improve their English language skills. We do reserve copyright on the materials we produce, but all of our original materials are free for educational use. Each lesson also includes a guide to online audio and video resources, some of which are available for purchase from their owners or publishers. Copyrighted music, art, performances and music videos are all subject to copyright and trademark laws, so please respect the rights of owners and buy what you need instead of pirating.
